Select, move, copy and undo
Before you design, get comfortable moving things around. Selecting, nudging, copying and undoing are the moves you'll use on every plan.
1. Select and move
In Edit mode, click any plant, object or area to select it, a solid ring marks what’s active and its details open on the right. Pointing at something without clicking draws the same ring in dashes, so you can tell hover from selection at a glance. Drag to move it anywhere.
2. Select several at once
Hold ⇧ Shift and drag a box to grab everything inside, or Shift-click items one at a time. A badge counts your selection so you can move or edit a whole group together.
3. Move the whole selection
Drag a single item out of a multi-item selection and only that one moves, while the rest stay exactly where they were. Hold ⌥ Option (Alt on Windows) as you drag and the whole selection travels together, keeping the spacing between its items.
4. Copy and paste
⌘C copies your selection; ⌘V pastes it right at your cursor. Repeat a planting, clone a bed, or duplicate an object in a couple of keystrokes. A copied group keeps its arrangement around the cursor, and the whole paste is one undo step.
The clipboard is short-lived: a copy is good for about a minute, so paste while it is fresh rather than coming back to it later. Pasting needs the cursor over the canvas, and if the paste would take you past your plan's plant limit it stops there and tells you how many landed.
5. Undo anything
Made a mistake? ⌘Z undoes it, and every change is undoable, so you can experiment freely knowing nothing is permanent.
Outside a drawing, esc clears your selection. While you are drawing it steps out one level at a time: first a number you have typed, then a locked length, then the run itself. Cancel by mistake and the “Drawing cancelled” snackbar offers Undo for eight seconds.
Undo belongs to the garden you are in The history is kept per garden, not per session. Open a different garden and it starts fresh, so undo what you mean to undo before you switch away.
