Speed up with keyboard shortcuts
A few keys make planning much faster. Here are the shortcuts worth learning first, all listed in the in-app reference whenever you forget one.
1. Open the shortcuts reference
Not sure of a key? Click Shortcuts in the bottom-right widgets to pop open the full reference, every shortcut with what it does, so you never have to remember them all.
2. Toggle View and Edit
Tap E to flip between View and Edit without reaching for the top bar, the single most useful key while you work.
3. Copy and paste
⌘C copies the selected plant, object or area; ⌘V pastes it at your cursor. The fastest way to repeat a planting or duplicate a bed.
4. Select several at once
Hold ⇧ Shift and drag a box to marquee-select everything inside, or Shift-click items one by one to build a selection.
5. Move an area with its plants
Hold ⌥ Option (Alt) and drag an area to move it and every plant and object inside it together, so a whole bed relocates in one go.
Tip Forgot a shortcut? The in-app reference lists them all. Esc deselects, and while you are drawing or fencing it steps out one level at a time: first a typed number, then a locked length, then the run, with the drawing HUD relabelling its keycaps to say which one Esc will do next. A cancelled run comes back from the snackbar’s Undo for eight seconds.
