Merge areas into one
Two beds that belong together? Select them and merge. Seasonry folds them into one named area made of separate pieces, each keeping its own texture, and every plant stays exactly where it sits. The areas don't even need to touch.
1. Select the areas to combine
Pick the Select tool, click the first area, then ⇧ Shift-click the others. The right panel switches to Areas · multi-select and lists everything you picked, with a Merge into one area button below. Prefer a sweep? Drag a marquee box around them instead.
They needn't touch Merge now works on areas that sit apart, like a front bed split by a path. They join into one area made of separate pieces.
2. Merge into one area
Click Merge into one area in the panel. Your beds become a single named area built from pieces, one per source, and each piece keeps its own texture automatically, so a gravel patio and a grass lawn stay gravel and grass. The new area takes the first-selected area's name, and an Areas merged successfully toast confirms it.
Plants stay put Nothing moves. Every plant from every bed is already inside the merged area, exactly where you left it.
3. Restyle any piece on its own
Click a piece on the canvas, or pick it from the Piece 1 / Piece 2 chips in the panel. The focused piece lifts, the others show a thin green outline, and the panel's colour, texture, opacity and rotate controls now change only that piece. Give one piece gravel and another brick if you like.
Move one piece, or all of them Drag a piece to nudge it on its own. Hold Option (Alt) while dragging to move every piece together, with the anchor piece snapping to the grid.
4. Split it back apart anytime
Changed your mind? With the area selected, click Split into pieces. Each piece becomes its own ordinary area again, named Patio 1, Patio 2 and so on, keeping the look you gave it. Merging and splitting are always reversible, so experiment freely.
Split is all-or-nothing Split breaks the area into all of its pieces at once. You cannot peel off a single piece and leave the rest merged, so if you only wanted two of three apart, split them all, then merge back the pair you want together.
