Layering & stack order
When beds and surfaces overlap, something has to sit on top. Seasonry sorts that out automatically, and hands you the controls whenever you want to override it.
1. How auto-stacking works
By default the planner sorts areas by size. Smaller beds sit above larger ones, so a little stone bed stays visible on top of a big lawn. It recomputes every time you add or resize an area, and usually it's exactly what you want.
2. Pin an area on top or behind
Need an exception? Click the area you want to reorder, then open its detail panel on the right and choose On top or Behind in the Stack order section. It steps out of the automatic order and holds that position relative to everything else.
Tip A small lock marks any area you've pinned, so it's easy to spot which ones break the size order.
3. Drag to set an exact order
For full control, drag the rows in the Stack order list, top of the list renders on top on the canvas. The row marked THIS is the area you have selected, so you always know where you are while you reorder.
4. Reset to automatic
Changed your mind? Click Auto · by size and the area drops back into the automatic smaller-on-top order, clearing any manual position. You're never locked into a hand-set arrangement.
